No yace, resplandece en la muralla
tu sangre ilustre, joven generoso,
la fama, del lucero lastimoso
ignora los ejemplos o los calla.

No cabe en la piedad, sin agrandalla,
presumir, que su esfuerzo valeroso
eligió par triunfo más glorioso,
que no fuese dichosa la batalla.

Y sino fue elección, premio sería,
en que la providencia te asegura
trofeo más altivo que viviendo.

Despreció a la fortuna tu osadía,
matar, y no morir, fuera ventura,
y fue todo valor, matar muriendo.
