Científico Apolo nuestro
ese soneto os envío,
porque le enmendéis por mío
y yo le estime por vuestro.
Un vacilar continuo el pensamiento,
mover sin ocasión de prevenido,
un ciego idolatrar, cuanto advertido,
una incredulidad del escarmiento.
A cuenta respirar de ajeno aliento,
nacer de lo cobarde lo advertido,
al tiempo anticiparle agradecido,
usar como lisonja del tormento.
Una unión del descanso, y la fatiga,
un guiar lo animoso la imprudencia,
osar, ceder, y resolver osado.
Un forzoso temer aun cuando obliga,
sólo este amor al mío diferencia,
en la razón, que sigue mi cuidado.
