Más blanda, no de amor, de arrepentida,
cual fue, si es blanda, siendo piedra helada,
gime Anaxarte, piedra cuando amada,
más que después en piedra convertida.
Viva le aborreció, y aborrecida
pena a su esquivo pecho reservada,
Dafne esquiva aconseja, castigada,
consejos que no oyó siendo querida.
Desconocidas Dafne y Anaxarte
en piedra y planta, me amenaza en vano
igual pena a las suyas en no amarte:
en vano, si eres de mi amor tirano,
y pienso ser retrato de Anaxarte,
si no en esquivo, en firme al tiempo vano.
