- XLVI - A Tisbe

Mira el amante pálido y rendido
a la inclemencia, Tisbe, de su hado,
el rostro en llanto por su amor bañado,
y él en su sangre por su amor teñido.
Hiriose con la espada que había sido
ministra de su mal y su cuidado;
el golpe no sintió, que era acabado,
con el morir su amante, su sentido.
Cayó; y buscó su sangre presurosa
la fría de su dueño, y ella, herida,
los brazos de su amante, querellosa.
Mostró su ser la Muerte en tal caída,
pues fue a juntar de un golpe. poderosa,
lo que el Amor no pudo en una vida.
