¿Caíste? Sí, si valeroso osaste.
Osaste, y cual osado en fin caíste;
si el cuerpo entre las nubes escondiste,
tu fama entre las nubes levantaste.
Nombre (¡oh terrible error!), mozo, dejaste
de que a estrella cruel obedeciste.
Lampecie gime tal, tal Febia triste,
una y otra a tu losa verde engaste.
Intentaste, ¡oh gran joven!, como osado;
seguiste al hado que te vio vencido;
caíste, mozo más que desdichado.
Y así, en mi mal gigante, te he excedido,
pues sin haber tus hechos heredado,
cual tú, menos tus llantos, he caído.
