¿Vosotras sois? segunda vez, dudoso,
tiemblo vuestro rigor y mi ventura:
apenas libre el pecho se asegura,
apenas libre Amor goza reposo.
¡Prisiones que os rompí! ¡Oh yo dichoso!
si en mi ventura cabe mi cordura,
¡gracias, oh santo tiempo, oh dios! procura
dicha, si puede ser, pecho animoso.
Esto libre canté cuando romperlas
el tiempo permitió, y Amor tirano
así me respondió, soberbio entre ellas:
«Huyes, ¡oh Fabio!, tu prisión en vano:
volverá Amor, que es poderoso, a hacerlas,
que Amor en fin es dios, y el tiempo humano».
