El imperioso brazo y dueño airado
el que Pegaso fue sufre paciente;
tiembla a la voz medroso y obediente;
sayal le viste el cuello ya humillado.
El pecho anciano de la edad arado,
que amenazó desprecio al oro, siente,
humilde ya, que el cáñamo le afrente,
humilde ya, le afrente el tosco arado.
Cuando ardiente pasaba la carrera,
sólo su largo aliento le seguía;
ya el flaco brazo al suelo apenas clava.
¿A qué verdad temió su edad primera?
Llegó, pues, de su ser el postrer día:
que el cano tiempo en fin todo lo acaba.
