- XLV -

Cuanta hermosura cupo en los humanos,
y adornó las virtudes, voló al Cielo,
dejando lleno de otra igual el suelo,
estrecho a dos Tesoros soberanos.
Adviertan lo que adoran los humanos,
les servirá de resplandor el hielo,
porque la luz mayor, corrido el velo,
tiene ocaso en crepúsculos cercanos.
La que llenaba el mundo duplicada
en nuevo sol a soberana esfera
con alas de sus méritos sucede.
O tierra, patria angosta y limitada,
que es fuerza, si uno nace, que otro muera,
porque no hay quien sin pérdidas herede.
