Este trono, este bulto a los clamores
de tanta exequia y sepultada vida,
pues la tuvo, gozándola, perdida,
deslumbrado en fantásticos honores;
este que siempre absorto en resplandores
fue estatua aunque terrestre, presumida;
ni a luz, ni a voz, ni a rayo estremecida;
horror aun asombroso a los horrores;
este ya incierta sombra y alma cierta,
racional interior con fondo vano,
viva esperanza y fe, caridad muerta,
que fue indigno del nombre de cristiano,
si vivo ha divertido, polvo advierta,
ya que en vano vivió no muera en vano.
