¡Un año más, Señor, con tanto día,
y con minuto tanto, tanto, tanto!
¡Y en risa tan continua siendo el llanto
lo que incesablemente se os debía!
¡Perdidos lustros! Y la escarcha fría
(como ya en tiempo) ocupa sin espanto
la cabeza y el rostro, y el quebranto
desune partes que el vigor unía.
Casi al último polvo reducido
donde no habrá más paso, aunque la fama
lo pretenda en pirámide o coloso;
tan ya sin mí que estoy de en olvido,
tan ya no yo, que soy quien más me infama;
mostrad en mí el poder de lo piadoso.
