- XIV -
Pintor que una beldad tan sublimada,
con tanta perfección nos retrataste,
di como tú en mirarla no cegaste,
del modo que yo en verla retratada.
Si tu pintura muda y desalmada
ni hay corazón que enternecer no baste,
viendo el original cómo acertaste
guiar pincel y mano tan turbada.
Si los ojos alzaste a contemplarla,
como tuviste fuerza de bajarlos
y no quedó tu vista allí prendida.
Y si los abajaste por pintarla,
cómo otra vez pudiste levantarlos
no estando asegurado de la vida.
