Soneto

Si en el amado pecho más constante
teme el olvido el amador ausente,
porque en la ausencia el tiempo no consiente
memoria o voluntad perseverante,
yo, que en presencia (miserable amante)
no fui correspondido, y al presente
mi ausencia Filis no recela o siente,
¿qué olvido espero a su rigor bastante?
Esta imaginación al alma asida
mil muertes puede darme; y yo, con ella,
ser puedo a mis tormentos homicida.
Mas como agradan a su causa bella
tanto mis males, me reserva en vida:
que es mayor mal que lo será el perdella.
