A la edad del año

De verdes ramas y de frescas flores
vistió la Tierra, en su niñez infante,
el virgen seno, y su vivaz semblante
ornó de mil guirnaldas de colores.
Joven después, en plácidos amores
gozando, al cielo, su amador constante,
de las entrañas, como tierna amante,
de suspiros en vez, lanzó vapores.
Mil frutos de sazón, el vientre abierto,
luego produjo, al puro viento ufana,
broca pero la faz mostrando y ruda.
Hoy, arrugado, en su vejez, el yerto
rostro la vemos, y de nieves cana:
todo la edad lo descompone y muda.
