Enrique, cuatro veces el estío
robó al florido campo sus colores,
y al verano otras tantas vertió flores
por los márgenes verdes de este río.
Después que lisonjero desvarío,
surcando el falso mar de los amores,
corrí fortuna, y roto entre clamores
dados en vano, se anegó el navío.
Libre a tierra salí, besé la arena,
y los despojos de la undosa furia
pagué, cumpliendo el voto, al sacro templo.
¿Qué me llama otra vez la faz serena
del mar? Vuelva por mí mi propia injuria,
y de la ajena basta en ti el ejemplo.
