Antes tendré que cante blandamente,
pues amo blandamente y soy amado;
sé que en Amor no es término forzado
sólo escribir aquel que dolor siente.
Desabáfase quien está doliente,
y canta en la prisión el desdichado,
con hierros y cadenas fatigado,
mas su cantar del nuestro es diferente.
Yo cantaré conforme a la avecilla
que canta sí a la sombra de algún ramo,
que el caminante olvida su camino,
quedando trasportado por oílla.
Así yo de quien me ama y a quien amo,
en mi cantar tendré gozo continuo.
