- XXV -

Harto mal fue, que un hombre tan cuitado
pusiese amor estado tan dichoso;
prosperidad me hizo ser medroso,
y mal sufrido estar tan regalado.
De esto nació, quedar desesperado,
adonde más había de estar gozoso;
y allá en mitad del centro del reposo
tener toda su fuerza mi cuidado.
¿Qué me aprovecha el bien, si el bien me estraga?
¿Qué fruto hará amor, do no hay sujeto
que sostenga la cura de la llaga?
Un ser traigo entre manos muy perfecto;
mas cuando tomo cuanta de la paga,
alcánzame otro ser, que es imperfecto.
