- XLIII -
Si mi querer pudiera algo templarse,
pareciéros quizá menos pesado;
con esto alguna vez ya he deseado,
que en mí el amor pudiera moderarse.
Mi alma en esto empieza a recatarse,
y quedo con temor de haber pecado,
en desear, por mejorar mi estado,
que mi querer pudiera refrenarse.
Mas también hallo, si esto yo deseo,
que lo hago por sólo contentaros,
y que es de puro amor cuanto en mí veo.
Pero tanto es, en fin, mi desearos,
que todo me parece gran rodeo,
sino cada hora y punto más amaros.
