Amor es bueno en sí naturalmente,
y si por causa de él males tenemos,
será porque seguimos los extremos,
y así es culpa de quien sus pena siente.
El fuego es el más noble y excelente
elemento de cuantos entendemos,
mas tanta leña en él echar podemos
que al mundo abrasará su fuerza ardiente.
Cuánto más si le echáis otras misturas
de pez o de alquitrán para moverle,
como aquellas que eché en mis desventuras;
por donde en el ardor de sus tristuras,
tan quemado quedé como encenderle,
que en mi rostro se muestran mis locuras.
