Tristes años y largos fui cuitado
en tormentos de amor tan afligido,
que en cosa ningún ser vi tan perdido,
que no tuviese envidia de su estado.
Contemplaba la piedra sin cuidado,
la planta mejoraba en su partido,
y el animal más bajo y abatido
era, a mi parecer, muy prosperado.
Yo solo andaba fuera de este bando,
despertando en las gentes la memoria,
hasta que Dios con su absoluto mando
mi guerra convirtió en tanta victoria,
que ahora vencedor estoy triunfando,
dejando escrita en todos larga historia.
