- XVI -

Ya canso al mundo, y vivo todavía;
llevo tras mí, mis años arrastrando;
mis amigos de mí van murmurando;
yo ando ya escondiéndome del día.
La noche sigo; más mi fantasía
me está entre las tinieblas espantando;
la soledad doquiera voy buscando;
pero a las veces busco compañía.
Viene mi mal con tan cruda figura,
que el alma no le tiene el rostro firme;
quiere huir de tanta desventura.
Yo deseo también tras ella irme;
mas amor, la costumbre y la ventura
me salen, y me tienen al partirme.
