Esfuerza el alma su virtud postrera;
álzase en pie, y a caminar se ensaya;
Amor le dice que, si no desmaya,
verá su bien, por eso que no muera.
Para durar buscando esta manera;
mas el buscar tan fuera va de raya
que el darse prisa le ha de hacer que caya
donde habrá de quedar aunque no quiera.
El desear le quita todo el tiento,
el tiento es necesario, y el deseo;
andan los dos riñendo en mi sentido.
Yo en parte estoy do pelear los veo;
del uno es necesario el vencimiento,
y el otro no podrá quedar vencido.
