¿Quién me dará un corazón tan alto
que de amor pueda escudriñar los hechos,
sin que mis daños propios, o provechos,
se atraviesen a darme sobresalto?
Comienzo a contemplar y luego salto
por medio del deleite en mil despechos
que me arrancan el alma de los pechos
y quedo yo acusándome de falto.
Cargan tristezas, mas en mitad de ellas
el espíritu de amor sostiene el gusto
y defiende que el desamor no tiente.
Es el proceso de esto muy injusto;
quema el fuego y alumbran las centellas;
el bien se huele y el dolor se siente.
