Temblando está la vida a cada punto
de una ventura que ofrecido se ha;
yo sé cuál vuelve y sé cómo se va
el bien cuando ya llega a estar muy junto.
Cierro mis ojos, callo y no pregunto,
esperando Fortuna qué hará.
Harto mal es tener por cierto ya
que todo el bien o mal ha de ser junto.
Gran miedo es este y grande la esperanza;
no está el alma dispuesta a tanto estreno;
mucho cuesta vencer en tal pelea.
Los que son de mi parte también temo,
que el socorro que viene sin templanza
los suyos mata, al tiempo que pelea.
