Un tiempo yo pensé y tuve por cierto
que otro dolor hallar no se podría
que igualase al morir y a su porfía,
y veo que anduve errado y sin concierto.
Por lo que digo, una vez más ser muerto
estimo que morir tantas al día
cuantas se ofrece ver sin alegría
vuestro gesto de amor, seguro puerto.
Si con desdén mi voluntad tan firme
tratáis, es un dolor tan recio y extraño
que juzgo por menor el de la muerte;
mirad si, con verdad, caso tan fuerte
afirmar puedo que no hay mal tamaño
pues tales tragos paso sin morirme.
