Como después del tempestuoso día,
la tarde clara suele ser sabrosa;
y después de la noche tenebrosa
el resplandor del sol placer envía;
así en su padecer el alma mía
con la tarde del bien es tan gozosa,
que se entrega, en un hora que reposa
de todos los trabajos que tenía.
Mas este bien no suele ser barato;
mucho cuesta tan fuerte medicina,
y es lo peor que presto ha de pagarse.
Es reposar de un hombre que camina,
que a la sombra descansa un breve rato,
para luego volver a más cansarse.
